Pumpkins with Preschool!

image_pdfimage_print

Today, we went to the pumpkin patch with Andrew’s class.  It was lots of fun for the kids.  Andrew found about 5 pumpkins that he wanted, before he finally settled on one.  The girls were quick to find their pumpkins.  They were looking for “baby” pumpkins.  It was a fun time together and we enjoyed meeting the Bettencourts.  This patch is their “labor of love” for the school.  They plant it each year just for the kids at the school to come and pick from.  Hope you enjoy the pictures of our fun day!

Stay Home Day

image_pdfimage_print

“Stay Home Days” started last year when Andrew started school.  Andrew loves “Stay Home Days”  when he would go to bed, he would always ask if tomorrow was a “Stay Home Day.”  A “Stay Home Day” is a day when we get to stay home all day, we get to sit and rock in the rocking chair longer, we get to stay in our jammies all day, if we want, and most importantly, the kids get to play all day!!  “Stay Home Days” have become sacred around here.  I try not to schedule appointments on those days, I try to get my shopping done, so we don’t have anywhere to go on those days.  These special days have become even more important to Mommy, because I know that there will not be very many more of them.  Next year, Andrew will be in Kindergarten and the girls will be going to Preschool.  We will have fewer days when all the kids are home together and can play all day.    I love to watch the kids play around me while I do my chores.

For whatever reason, today was an extra special “stay home day.”  Kaitlyn woke up early and helped Daddy make a yummy pancake breakfast with blueberry syrup.  Then after Daddy left for work, Andrew asked if we could get the instruments out.  So I pulled out the instruments and the kids have been having fun banging their drums, blowing their recorders, and ringing their bells all day long.  Later the kids asked if they could have a tea party.  Since it was almost lunch we decided to have a tea party lunch.  I cut our PB & Honey into little squares and made the last 4 pancakes from breakfast into sandwiches as well.  We pulled the tea set that Aunt Linda gave the girls out and ate our little sandwiches on little plates.  The kids always have fun eating and drinking off of little plates and cups, and it is always a good excuse for Mommy to sneak in a little bit of manners training in the process! 🙂

The kids may not really ever remember these special days, but for me, I will treasure them in my heart forever!!

Happy Birthday, Girls!

image_pdfimage_print

Our Girls = PURE JOY!!!!

Three years ago, God surprised us with twin girls! To be honest, we were shocked and little overwhelmed! But here we are 3 years later and can not imagine our home without them. They are such a blessing to our family!

The girls are truly the best of friends! They have their differences, but they are very similar as well. Megan is a little more quiet and shy, is happy being a little girl, and she is very loyal and caring. Kaitlyn is very outgoing, wants to be grown up, and has a very sweet heart!  They both love to help me around the house, and they can play together for hours!

Their favorite thing to do together is to play in their doll house with their princesses and if you ask them what they want to be when they grow up, they will both say that they want to be a princess!

For their birthday, we went to the zoo for the day and then came home to celebrate as a family with cake and ice cream and a few gifts from Mommy and Daddy.

This past weekend we celebrated with family and a few friends here at the house.  The girls’ favorite princesses is Rapunzel, so Brian and I worked to throw them a Rapunzel themed birthday party, complete with “floating lights”, a tower and even a few frying pans!  They had so much fun, and it was so fun to see them get excited over every detail of the day!

Kaitlyn and Megan, you will always be our princesses!  We love you both so much and enjoy every moment watching you grow!

The Happiest Place on Earth

image_pdfimage_print

Early this summer, we went to Disneyland with Brian’s family!  Brian’s mom generously treated us to this amazing trip.  We got to stay in the Grand Californian, then spend two days in the park, and one day in Downtown Disney!  It was so much fun watching the kids discover Disneyland for the first time.  Andrew’s favorite attraction at the park was the Jedi Training Academy where he actually got to see the real Darth Vader.  Scary, but oh, so much fun!  The girls got to meet so many of their favorite princesses and Tinkerbell!  What a great trip spent with our family!

Thank you, Nancy for all the fun and happy memories!

Andrew’s 5th Birthday

image_pdfimage_print

FIVE!!

I can not believe that my baby boy is five!  The time has flown by and Andrew really is a great kid!  Brian and I are so proud of him!

As you can see from the picture above, Andrew loves to dress up!  He likes to come up with his own costumes.  This is one that he and I worked together to make one morning.  These days, Andrew loves to build with Legos or Trios, play superheros, fire fighters or star wars.  I am always amazed by what his little imagination can come up with!

Andrew is starting Pre-K at Hanford Christian School this year.  He is so eager to learn new things.  He loves to spell words and is starting to read.  He has a great understanding of basic math concepts and can even understand some multiplication concepts.  He is a smarty, for sure!!

The Celebrations ….

It is no secret, that birthdays tend to be a big deal in our family.  So it should be no surprise that the past 2 weekends have been spent celebrating Andrew’s 5th birthday!

We spent Andrew’s actual birthday together as a family.  We decided that we wanted to go bowling.  The kids have never been before, so Brian and I were not quite sure what to expect.   The kids had a great time, and actually did pretty well.  Andrew loved rolling the ball all by himself and tried to mimic Brian and I when he bowled.  The girls needed a little more help.  They had a hard time rolling the ball hard enough to actually make it all the way down the lane.  It was so much fun, and we all had a great time.

Andrew told me that he wanted to have a snake cake for his birthday.  It was so fun to make for him, and I was glad to see how happy he was when he finally got to see it.

Yesterday, was Andrew’s birthday party with family and friends.  Since our days are filled with building Legos, we decided to have a Lego birthday party.  Brian and I both had a blast planning the party, and even our very opinionated 5 year old made sure that he let us know some of his important criteria for the party.  He wanted to make sure that their was something “Star Wars” in the party, and he did not want regular cake … he wanted to have donuts instead.  It was a great day filled with lots of building and tons of fun!

Andrew is truly a blessing!  I have loved every moment of the past 5 years with him!  I thank God every day for him, and pray that he continues to grow up in a way that is pleasing and honoring to God!

Muddy Fun!

image_pdfimage_print

This morning we were woke up by a surprise summer thunderstorm.  The kids loved listening to the thunder and watching the rain this morning.  Then this afternoon, the girls found some mud in the yard when they went out to play.

We were talking about all the fun they had in the mud tonight at dinner.  Then Daddy had a “great” idea.  He told the kids that if they really wanted to have fun, they should play in the mud, barefoot.  He told that that maybe mommy would take them out to play tomorrow.  Wink, wink!!

Yea, I don’t think so.  The kids wanted to go now, and since it was daddy’s great idea, he got to take them out.

Here are the fun pictures of our evening in the mud …

Random Pictures

image_pdfimage_print

Ok, so I have a confession!  The desktop on my computer is a MESS!!  There are a ton of random things posted on it.  I have plans for all of them, but I never seem to get to the point where my desktop is completely cleaned off.  So tonight, I am going to make an attempt!!  Here are a bunch of random pictures from my desktop.  All of which I love!  Hope you enjoy them too ….

As you know, my kids love a good picnic.  So early one spring morning, the kids helped themselves to a blanket in the closet and made their own picnic out on your lawn in the back yard!

I love this picture of Megan.  This was taken right after she had pneumonia this summer.  She had been sick all weekend, and this was Monday or Tuesday.  It made me so happy to see her feeling like a “princess” again!

Megan and Kaitlyn, going on a bike ride with Daddy!  These girls are just so darn cute!

I think this was Father’s Day!  Brian is such a great husband and dad!!  We all adore him!

This was the week of VBS.  My kids love everything about VBS, but they really like their shirts!

It was HOT … really, do I need to say anything more? 🙂

Andrew found this shirt in his closet and wanted to wear it to church that morning.  He did not know that this shirt was made by my grandmother for my brother Aaron when he was little.  Aaron died when he was not much older than Andrew.  And later that day, I realized what date it was, and it was Aaron’s birthday!  I wish my brother could have been here to see Andrew enjoying his old shirt!

We went to get ice cream, and got to see some firemen.  Andrew loves firemen, especially the one on the left of him.  That was his t-ball coach!

The girls dress up all the time, so Andrew wanted to see what was so special about being a princess …

… he decided it was much more fun to be a Jedi knight!!

My girls love to garden, this is them “planting seeds.”

Wow, that was it!  My desk and my computer are almost all cleaned off now!  Thanks for your help!

Family Movie Night

image_pdfimage_print

One of the kids’ most favorite things to do on a Friday night is to have Family Movie Night!  We only have a movie night every few months, so the kids look forward to it.  We order a movie that the kids have never seen.  I never tell the kids ahead of time, so it is always a surprise.  I work all afternoon to get the family room ready and prepare a special dinner that we can eat in front of the TV.  We lay out blankets for the kids to sit on while they eat.  Then we set out popcorn and candy to have after we finish our dinner.  I think the candy might be their most favorite part of the whole night! 🙂  Everything is set up and ready to start the movie when Daddy gets home.  The kids wait excitedly by the door for Brian to get home, and squeal when he opens the front door!

Anyway, it is so much fun watching the kids go so excited over a movie and spending time together as a family!
